If the G12M was to become a classic, it was the
G12H with its heavier magnet that really characterised the sound of rock
guitar for the new breed of player that emerged in the 1960s. Listen to
any Hendrix recording and the chances are you’re hearing the unmistakably
creamy tones of the G12H. Originally available in two versions – low
resonance for bassists and high resonance for guitarists – both were in
fact embraced by guitar players for their unique tonal characteristics. |

Way back in the 1960s, Celestion released a
version of the popular G12 guitar loudspeaker called the G12M. These days
nicknamed the Greenback, with its medium weight magnet this speaker had a
tone that was silky smooth and warm, while still retaining the brightness
and punch necessary to cut through the rest of the band. The Greenback was
also a highly articulate speaker, perfect for the pioneering lead
guitarists of the time. A classic had been born. |

A forerunner to the G12T-75, the G12-65 was originally created as a
higher-power handling version of the G12M Greenback. Recognised as the
voice of 1980s rock and blues, the speaker was particularly popular in
4x12 cabinets and is considered by many to be the finest speaker ever
produced for use in this classic configuration.

"Many other manufacturers have tried to recreate the Celestion Blue
sound in a higher powered driver, and some have come close. But only
Celestion has the experience and know-how to emulate the tone and response
of its own, Alnico classic in a modern driver that’s perfect for single or
multiple applications in cabinets or combos. I put an Alnico Gold in my Clark 32 watt tweed amp and it sounds fantastic dave |

Celestion’s very own monster of rock, the G12K-100, makes full use of the heaviest G12 magnet to combine huge power handling with superb clarity across a wide frequency response. A massive bottom-end, rock-hard midrange and restrained top-end make this the perfect speaker to add thump and grind to modern high-gain tones. 8 or 16 ohm..

A worthy successor to the Vintage 10, the G10 Vintage is a 10" speaker with bags of attitude. Using powerful ceramic magnets and the same voice coil design as the Vintage 30, the G10 packs an impressive punch with its 60W power handling. With the fast response of a 10" but with the strong and creamy vocal tones of a 12", the G10 is the ideal choice to add depth to hollow-sounding amps, or for players who want to get humbuckertype girth from single-coils. Can be used singly to add vocal warmth to small valve combos, or in quartets for a weightier but still lively attack. 16 ohm only |
